Tell me oh wise and experienced Operamoms.....after all this struggle I've had with my milk supply should I say No to the corset they want me to wear??? The alternative isn't better as I think the dress will still cut in to my breasts a bit (they can't afford new ones). Is it better to have an even pressure with the corset? My boobs are sooooo big now it's just impossible to hold them up well with a bra and this empire line gown has such a narrow breast covering.... Oh dear what to do.

Oh Hopper, my heart goes out to you. What to do, what to do.........
I would think that LIMITED time spent in the corset would be ok - but you probably wouldn't want to be bound night and night for weeks on end.
Just remember - what ever you decide has to be what you really feel will be best for you and your boobs - being relaxed about your decision will go along way in keeping up the supply.
Speaking of supply......time to pump again............

Can't they find some matching fabric and add those triangular panels under the arms? Or if it's more an issue of how low it is, can't they add some wide lace to the bodice? Even if they had to do both, it shouldn't cost much, especially since they would only need to get around half a yard of each. Well, a full yard on the lace might be advisable in case it gets ripped, but even so... BTW, where are you? If you're near a Frederick's of Hollywood, they do have a style of corset with two laces in the back so you can adjust the top and bottom separately. Its drawback is that the stays kink easily, but other than that, I like it.

Hmmm. Give it a go, loosen it up during breaks and intermissions, and if you notice a dip in your supply then go without. Easier said than done, I know.
I've never had a problem with them, but some people say that underwire bras can cause plugged ducts (which can sometimes lead to mastitis, ouch), so if you feel achy or get a "hot spot" definitely ditch the corset and nurse a lot on the achy side (with the baby's chin pointed at the ouchy spot) to clear it up.
Too bad the costume isn't more flexible... if you ask them (blame it on needing room to breathe, rather than accomodating inflatable breasts, hee hee) can they work any lacing/panel magic to widen the back a bit? Good luck with it --

Well, if the tear is in the race, so the entire yard can be recommended, but BTW, where are you are you? Frederick of Hollywood near you, if they allow you to individually adjust the top and bottom do have two straps in the back of the corset style. The shortcomings of the accommodation could easily stumble, but other than that, I like it.
