Ms. Bunnell's long association with the Metropolitan Opera has been met with critical acclaim. She has appeared in numerous productions, including Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Les contes d'Hoffmann, Otello, and Romeo et Juliette. She is currently appearing at the Metropolitan Opera in the role of Suzuki in Madama Butterfly.
Ms. Kelley has devoted a major portion of her career to performing the works of composer Joseph Baber whose operas Rumpelstiltskin and Samson and the Witch were written especially for her. Her voice can be heard on a recent recording of Stephen Sondheim's The Birds.
Equally at home in opera, oratorio, and musical theater, Mr. Embree has appeared with leading opera companies and orchestras throughout North America. He made his New York City Opera debut in 1978 and continued with the company until 1983. More recently he has sung with the Virginia Opera, the Colorado Springs Symphony, and the Florida Philharmonic.
Joshua Greene has been a guest conductor at the Sarasota Opera and has also served as Music Director of the New York City Opera National Company. Active on the concert stage as well, he has conducted the Pro Arte Chorale on numerous occasions and has served as Music Director of the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra for several seasons. Mr. Greene maintains a busy studio in Manhattan, where he coaches leading soloists of the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera.
Proceeds from the recital will benefit CantaLyrica, a chamber chorus dedicated to performing classical music at the highest level of technical skill and artistic expression. Founded in 1996 as a women's chorus, the ensemble has developed into a 50-voice mixed chamber chorus noted for its uniquely rich and colorful sound. The chorus will perform Bach's Jesu, meine Freude and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass on May 8, 2004 at the Community Church at Upper Ridgewood.
For tickets and information for both events, please call 201-837-1734.
